Whanala Galiwin’ku?
Whanala Dhiyunguny Bala Galiwin’ku? (Where are you today Galiwin’ku?) shares Yolngu people’s stories related to their recovery from Cyclones Lam and Nathan which struck Elcho Island (NE Arnhemland, NT) in 2015.
The film describes difficulties with preparing for and recovering from the cyclones, exacerbated by local factors including housing shortages and maintenance, lack of employment and the loss of local governance and decision making through the Intervention and subsequent Stronger Futures federal approaches.
Produced in 2016 with Australian Red Cross, funded by NAB and Westpac Bank
